Subject Description: A view across a lake to an Indian camp on the far shore. Tall trees rising from the right foreground frame the right edge of the picture. Other trees on opposite shore frame the left edge. Five teepees, single standing figure and two horses in the water near the shore provide the focus of interest. Distant dark hills on the horizon.
Condition: Considerable part of the sky appears to be repainted, scattered touches in the trees.
Infra-red: Clarifies details of rocks and foliage at lower right.
UltraViolet: Reveals the extent of retouches.
Color: Foliage areas a deep brown - water and sky a golden yellow, distant hills a gray-green.
X-ray: Under coat matches light parts of the design.
