Subject DescriptionA view across a lake to an Indian camp on the far shore. Tall trees rising from the right foreground frame the right edge of the picture. Other trees on opposite shore frame the left edge. Five teepees, single standing figure and two horses in the water near the shore provide the focus of interest. Distant dark hills on the horizon.
ConditionConsiderable part of the sky appears to be repainted, scattered touches in the trees.
Infra-redClarifies details of rocks and foliage at lower right.
UltraVioletReveals the extent of retouches.
ColorFoliage areas a deep brown - water and sky a golden yellow, distant hills a gray-green.
