Subject Description: A view straight along the beach. Bathhouses and other buildings on edge of the beach area animated by many figures and flying flags on tall poles. Almost all the figures depicted seem to be in street clothes. The few and indistinct bathers in the breakers at the right cannot be seen clearly enough to determine their costume.
Condition: Generally good although there is considerable evidence of repaint and alterations.
Infra-red: Sharpens the image.
UltraViolet: Reveals that almost all of the left foreground area has been repainted, some figures have been painted out, lettering on brown fence obliterated, and a double signature, red on top of black.
Color: Notably bright and clear, subdue touches of color, red blue ochre in costumes and areas, sea a dark gray.
X-ray: Very thin ground-wood pattern quite clear.
