Subject Description: Three quarter length figures, seated beside tree at left, a path leading into wooded landscape at right. Mrs. Blakelock wears a dark dress with whitest the neck and wrists. Her hands rest in her lap. She wears earrings and a cross on a chain around her neck.
Condition: Canvas relined, glue lining fairly stiff. Some active bitumen deterioration and contraction crackle partially painted over. Figure has been cleaned, arm and left shoulder into the background, hair and background no cleaned.
Infra-red: Shows crackle in background.
UltraViolet: Reveals cleaning of figures, entire surroundings are as heavily coated with varnish, showing losses and crackle.
Color:
X-ray: Reveals that the figure originally wore a short white apron.
