Subject Description: A clearing in a woods, high foliage on either side of a path. The figure of a hunter carrying a gun and accompanied by a dog placed in center foreground. The figure wears a red neckerchief. Area at lower right foreground lighted and brushed vertically as though to suggest reflections in water.
Condition: Generally good. Sky painted over trees. Foliage in middle distance brushed with considerable freedom and accented with sgraffito strokes. Both man and dog modeled with breadth and fluency. Considerable cub-texture in center of composition.
