Subject Description: Wooded landscape, ground line at half of the picture
Condition: Heavy paint and contraction crackle make an exact determination of composition and color difficult, if not impossible. Evidence of in painting in some of the crackle.
Infra-red: Reveals small signature R.A. Blakelock within an arrow at lower right, otherwise shows only the heavily over worked surface, the sky at the upper left strengthened by straight strokes of pigment laid one above the other, note also the heavy strokes of the highlighting color along the trunk of the large tree. Laid on with no concern for the form underneath.
UltraViolet: Shows the heavily contracted surface.
Color:
X-ray: Shows some general condition and technique, broad and formless. The signature is completely lacking in the natural assurance which is otherwise characteristic. It is very small in scale and seems almost to have been deliberately
Additional Examination Notes: Although this panel seems to belong to the category of Blakelock
