Subject Description: Composition divided a little below center. Single tree stands on rising ground at right. Two tepees to the left. Suggestion of a stream in lower center.
Condition: Poor. Water appears to be painted vertically. Paint in layers with very little blending. Sky painted over trees. Trees drawn in with accents of heavy pigment. Varnish heavy and uneven, considerable gloss.
Infra-red: Sharpens the drawing of the large tree, also signature.
UltraViolet: Reveals overpainting in sky.
Color: 
X-ray: Shows uneven application of ground coat, possibly with pallet knife.
